The Markham District High School History Department includes a group of dynamic teachers with various years of experience a wide range of skills. The specific courses they teach reflect an expertise they have in a particular subject area, and a passion for student growth & development which is rooted in their own personal education experiences. In addition to history, our department also offers courses in other fields of social science including: civics/politics, economics, philosophy, anthropology, sociology and psychology. As one of the largest history departments in Ontario, we are able to deliver a program with a wide range of courses from grades 10 to 12, which meets the varied interest and ability levels of every student in the building. Field trips, guest speakers and school-wide simulations are but a few of the techniques used to make learning both relevant and exciting.
